Workshop 01 - 9:00 to 12:30 am
Technological Changes
and Mutation of Professions
Chaired by Philippe Bricard, CEO, UCit
© TERATEC 2022
In the introduction, it was recalled that the HPC engineer must master mathematics, computer science and business expertise. However, technological changes mean that the engineer no longer needs to be an expert in HPC infrastructures, but must integrate more languages, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. To accompany this change, a range of training courses is being set up, and this workshop is an opportunity to present various aspects of it.
For HPE, Sébastien Cabaniols, based on more than 20 years of adaptation to the changes in the engineering profession, explained the new situation of the HPC engineer's job, insisting on the fact that the purpose is taking on an increasingly dominant role, and quoting Stephen Hawking in conclusion: "Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.
For INRIA Academy, David Simplot detailed the range of various training courses offered (catalogue) or organised (customised) by the INRIA Academy team of trainers, in all technological and organisational fields, enabling companies to master the impact of acceleration strategies in the digital world.
For the academic world, Johnatan Pecaro Sanchez presented the first European Master's programme in High Performance Computing, which allows students to follow cutting-edge HPC courses, based on a network of universities and schools located throughout Europe, including mobility opportunities.
For ENSIIE, Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Informatique pour l'Industrie et l'Entreprise, Laurent Prével shared the training projects for quantum technologies. The aim of these training courses, both professional continuing education (short) and initial training (long), is to train current and future engineers in the products, solutions and uses linked to the evolution of quantum computing technologies.
This workshop then allowed for interactive exchanges between the speakers and the participants, before continuing the discussions on the various stands of the Teratec 2022 Forum.
