Optimization and substructuring : Structure sizing increasingly refers to complex systems constituted by interacting sub-systems. These sub-systems are sometimes designed by different companies. How to derive local specifications on each sub-system from global specifications about global mechanical behaviour.
The multi-scale approach consists in managing global sizing by two overlapped levels:
the over-all level with global specifications with respects to new optimisation variables linked with specific mechanical behaviours of separate sub-systems;
classical local levels of sizing for separate sub-systems with local mechanical specifications.
