Alcatel - Lucent & Ter@tec

Alcatel-Lucent’s participation in Ter@tec is motivated by the growing importance of network connectivity issues for high performance computing. The remote use of supercomputers or data centres, the establishment of virtual collaborative environments, the virtual unification of geographically distributed resources require strong performances in terms of network (such as bandwidth and latency which are vital to the overall performance of applications), including in  long-distance operations.  Alcatel-Lucent’s intention is to bring network expertise to the Ter@tec organisation and to exchange with high performance computing stakeholders, users and providers, so as to come up with the most appropriate network solutions for these needs.

Projects :

Project SYSTEMATIC CARRIOCAS : Study and implementation of very high-speed broadband optical networks (up to 40 Gb/s per channel) in response to scientific and industrial needs in terms of remote use of computing and storage for high performance interactive and collaborative simulations, and for virtual prototyping.  See www.carriocas.org for more information.

.
Project SYSTEMATIC CSDL
(Complex Systems Design Lab): aims to foster a fully collaborative environment to aid decision-making for the design of complex systems, particularly in the pre-project phase.
