8 workshops to better understand the contributions of HPC, Simulation and Big Data
Beyond the plenary sessions of the 13th Teratec Forum held on Tuesday 19th of June and taking stock of state-of-the-art in the simulation, high-performance computing and Big Data sectors, the second day on Wednesday 20th of June will bring together 8 thematic workshops with renowned international experts presenting innovative implementations of these promising technologies.
These thematic workshops address the following topics:
- A1 - Predictive maintenance facilitated by digital twins;
- A2 - Health and personalized medicine in the era of HPC;
- A3 - The quantum revolution under way;
- A4 - Cultural and creative industries at the cutting edge with digital;
- A5 - HPC, Cloud and Embedded Systems (HPC in the Loop);
- A6 - Building and Construction infrastructures rebuilt by digital;
- A7 - Deep Learning through practice;
- A8 - Autonomous systems driven by intensive computing.
Teratec Forum is a unique opportunity to base your own opinion on these major sectors where technologies will play a leading role such as: autonomous systems for healthcare, the world of construction or, cultural and creative industries. Innovative technologies are equally developing in a breadth of domains: artificial intelligence and deep learning, digital twin, quantum computing, embedded HPC systems.
Book now each every workshop in which you plan to participate on Wednesday 20 June, selecting home page for Workshops on our site.

A1 - Predictive maintenance facilitated by digital twins
The concept of digital twin is based on simulation models along with the learning machine using empirical models, and 3D virtual reality. Enabling the understanding of the inner performance of a system, information is collected by sensors placed on actual installations. It is then easier to anticipate predictive maintenance operations in order to guarantee optimum operation of any installation. Come and discover first-hand feedback from experiences in aeronautics, urban planning or oil exploration.

A2 - Health and personalized medicine in the era of HPC
Digital technologies and in particular HPC (high performance computing) greatly enable the sequencing of the human genome and reduce its cost. This "Genomics" process is at the origin of a medical revolution that will allow more precise and predictive therapeutic management for each patient, as well as improved design of personalized drugs by massive screening methods in silico. Discover state-of-the-art and future developments of pharmaceutical research and metagenomics.

A3 - The quantum revolution is under way
Until recently, Quantum Calculation raised hopes but remained very theoretical. Recent advances in hardware with advent of usable simulators are moving into a workable environment with a short term perspective. Users will be able to start experimenting with these new technologies, while developing a robust ecosystem (hardware, architectures, programming languages, algorithms...), and especially learn to think about tomorrow's applications using this extra-computing power. The Workshop is a unique opportunity to build a general overview of the situation and to detail the latest available technologies.

A4 - Cultural and creative industries at the forefront with digital technology
With 1.3 million people involved and a turnover of nearly 100 billion Euros, the Cultural and Creative Industries (ICC) are among the largest economic sectors in France. A sector which is in strong progression thanks to digital technologies which, in particular and little by little, commits into all related sectors of creation, from fireworks to lighting, from dance to plastic arts, from video games to cinema. All-the-like sectors where French digital creators have earned a worldwide reputation in the fields of modelling and animation. Creative studios and technology providers will come to talk to you about their experiences.

A5 - HPC, Cloud and Embedded Systems (HPC in the Loop)
Today's and tomorrow's innovative systems will embody more and more computing power or apply "Edge Computing", allowing control loops to use high performance computing or "HPC in the loop". Hardware sides (local power, multi-core architectures...), but also software aspects (real-time, parallelization, model reduction, digital simulation mixes and IA technologies, sensor simulation...) will be addressed during this session through new applications that will strongly impact more activities such as autonomous means of transport in the years to come.

A6 - Building & Construction and infrastructures revisited by digital technology
The world of construction has undergone a real cultural revolution in a decade, moving from 2D plans to advanced digital technologies. 3D models, digital simulation, virtual reality, construction robotics, Internet of Things, Big Data are now part of building engineers’ toolbox, creating a more efficient, more sustainable and less energy-consuming urban environment. This revolution requires new collaborative working methods, new business skills and greater interoperability between processing tools. Public authorities, architects, real estate operators, publishers will present the latest advances during this Workshop.

A7 - Deep Learning through practice
Deep Learning is one of the leading fields of Artificial Intelligence, but many potential users still question the interest and applicability of these tools within their own field. This is why the workshop will give the floor to users having already implemented these methods or who are experimenting with them. The aim here is to enable those who wish to introduce deep learning into their organization to gain practical insights from such valued feedback.

A8 - Autonomous systems and HPC / HPDA
Developments in autonomous land, sea, air and space systems and vehicles, whether civil or military offer a major technological breakthrough. Their complexity makes it essential to develop innovative numerical simulation tools, based on environment analysis as well as on decision-making systems. By doing so, it remains critical to define, construct, evaluate and validate such targeted technical solutions, aimed at complying with future standardizations based on highly performing, secure and non-vulnerable functional architectures. Major players in the sector will present the state of progress in their research.
