DIGITAL RECONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Long devoted to 2D plans, the construction world has undergone a real cultural revolution within a decade, to the point where it is now at the cutting edge of digital technologies.
The 3D digital model enriched with multiple information resources allows optimization of energy performances from the design phases of any project, to better integrate its environment and to facilitate its exploitation. Digital simulation, augmented reality, virtual reality, site robotics, the Internet of Things, Building Management and Maintenance tools, and Big Data, are now integral part of the toolbox of building engineers, to create a more efficient, more sustainable and less energy-consuming urban environment.
Such a revolution presupposes new collaborative working methods, new business skills, greater interoperability between tools coupled with a political will to move forward in this direction.
