Taking on tomorrow’s challenges together
Leaving summer holidays far behind, we just held our General Assembly: A new year starts with many challenges for Teratec. Back to business, this editorial is an opportunity to take perspective on highlights that will mark the year 2019-2020.
The tempo was indeed set by our General Assembly held on October 10: Jean-Marc Grognet, Genopole's General Manager, explained to us why HPC, simulation and machine learning (AI) technologies have been essential in Genomics and personalized medicine to date, and why he wanted to get even closer to Teratec. Without a doubt, biotechnology is now one of the largest users of digital technology.
Over the coming months, as I mentioned at our General Assembly, Teratec must continue its rise in power towards Europe: with Teratec as its flagship, establishing the unique HPC Competence Centre in France will give each of our members visibility on opportunities that Europe is about to offer. But our mission and activities are far from being limited to this creation, since we fulfill an important role in three centers of excellence already with POP, Excellerat, FocusCoE, with our ambition to bring SMEs support project SiMSEO to a European scale.
Among the many events Teratec has planned, allow me to highlight some next key moments: on November 14, we organize a day on the Teratec Campus around the Teratec Quantum Computing Initiative, which may become the future technological breakthrough of the HPC. Preparing to the future still, join us on November 28 as we welcome 200 Master's degree students in their final year from the Universities of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ) and Léonard de Vinci. The objective is to introduce them to the future challenges of our businesses while meeting our member companies, and familiarize with their recruitment needs. Let us conclude with Tetatec’s prime event for 15 years: next Forum Teratec 2020 will be held at the Ecole Polytechnique on June 16 and 17.
With much more information to discover in further details in this newsletter, we wish a good read to everyone!
Daniel Verwaerde,
President of Teratec
