Robust optimization in power networks
By Jean-Luc Bouchot, Engineer, Artelys France

Optimising power networks is of prime importance for safety and demand satisfaction. Nowaday renewable and intermittent energy sources render this task harder and uncertain. Moreover with the rise in e-mobility and energy storage, this uncertainty has a much bigger impact and reduces the reliability of the network.

We present here a robust optimization strategy, introducing weather, outage, and other uncertainties in our model to minimize network costs whilst satisfying the energy demand.

Biography  : Jean-Luc received the Master of Enginering in computer science and applied mathematics (National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, 2009) and the doctoral degree in industrial mathematics (Johannes Kepler University of Linz, 2012). He pursued an academic career, developing an expertise in image and signal processing and compressed sensing and low-rank models. Recently, he went back to engineering, working on calibration of multi-sensor systems for autonomous driving. Recently, he joined Artelys as an engineer working on high performance computing for robust optimization of power systems.
