2023, a year of transformation for Teratec
The year 2022 is ending particularly well, with the visible progress of HPC in Europe - among the 10 most powerful machines in the world, two are European and the fourth is produced by Atos - accompanying the take-off of quantum computing, with the development of numerous start-ups, the strong activity of our TQCI (Teratec Quantum Computing Initiative) and leading to the recognition of the high level of quantum research in France by the award of the Nobel Prize to Alain Aspect.
And the year 2023 promises to be a great year of transformation and development.
So the Teratec Forum is transforming to establish as the event of reference for digital technologies and their use. We have joined forces with the Infopro Digital group to enrich the Forum’s content and develop its French and international reach. Infopro Digital is a major information and communication group, well known for its publications such as l'Usine nouvelle, Industrie et Technologies and l'Usine Digitale, and is also a major exhibition operator in France and abroad. We know each other well, as we have produced together the Simulation special features of Usine Nouvelle as well as the Simulation and Digital Technologies Trophies.
2023 will also see the strengthening of our European actions. Teratec is responsible for the French EuroHPC Competence Center which we are developing with CERFACS, INRIA, URCA and CRIANN. This competence center will be deployed in 2023 to include a marketplace dedicated to HPC. We are also involved in the coordination of European competence centers and centers of excellence, with particular responsibility for their articulation with the industrial world.
It's a great year ahead for the entire field of high-powered computing, from HPC to Quantum, that will bring the opportunity for us to get together many times.
To all of you, I wish a great year in 2023!
Hervé Mouren,
Managing director of Teratec |

The Teratec Forum reinvents its purpose in 2023 with more content and more exhibitors, for a larger audience with more partners and further impact.
The most important gathering of the HPC community in France for the past 17 years is being resized with a reinforced digitalization in order to energize all year long the community of digital technologies in high-power with reinforced media coverage to further develop a visitors’ base with users and researchers from all key sectors. In order to provide access to the greatest number of people, the Teratec Forum 2023 will take place in Paris at the Parc Floral next May 31 and June 1, with added events around three thematic digital morning sessions in April, September and November.

The thematic mornings of the Teratec Forum offer a digital format designed to stimulate the community in each sector throughout the year.
Each digital morning session will focus on a particular application sector (e.g. Energy, Health, Finance...) and will offer a complete overview of the subject, with state-of-the-art feedback from user companies, an update on major research areas and future prospects in each sector. Sponsors and exhibitors of the Teratec Forum will also have opportunities to enhance technological aspects related to the topics being covered.

The Teratec Forum also brings two days of exhibitions and conferences in Paris to discover the latest technological innovations.
Held on May 31 and June 1 at the Parc Floral de Paris, the Teratec Forum will present the major innovations in simulation, HPC/HPDA, AI and quantum computing through plenary sessions, technical and application workshops, round tables and an exhibition of hardware, software and services. The Simulation and Digital Technologies Awards, the Teratec evening gathering and other dedicated events will lighten these two days.

The dedicated interactive and intuitive platform of the Teratec Forum 2023 is available all year long.
This platform will allow participants to access all contents of the thematic morning sessions – live and for replay. They will also be able to discover contents and offers of sponsors and exhibitors with networking opportunities to make contacts and prepare their visit to the show in the best possible way. Some content (plenary sessions, round tables) will be available in replay mode, at the end of the Teratec Forum (held on site for its next edition).

Hackathon HPC: 10 teams competing and challenged on software codes provided by CGG and EDF.
From last November 28 to December 5, ten teams from UVSQ, URCA, Universities of Bordeaux and Perpignan, and ENSEIRB worked on optimizing and porting STENCIL and SATURNE codes to ARM/AWS architectures. The awards ceremony will take place on June 1, 2023 during the TERATEC Forum. Congratulations to all of you for your participation and special thanks to this project partners: ARM, AWS, CGG, EDF, TERATEC, UCIT, all members of Teratec!

Teratec is proud to support the 9th Quantum Pack project voted by the Ile-de-France Region.
Quandela, the Borelli Center and Thales have joined forces to make quantum computing available for air traffic management applications of drones in urban environments. This project aims at evaluating the capabilities of quantum machines to compute the optimization of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles trajectories while integrating geometrical, physical, energy and airspace shared constraints. Teratec is pleased to be a partner in this project.

TQCI: Hybridization and Integration of Quantum Technologies, save the date of January 11, 2023.
Don't miss out the seminar organized by EDF with the support of TQCI. With the emergence of hybrid quantum/classical algorithms and the delivery of the first classically non-reproducible quantum computers, the hybridization of CPUs, GPUs and QPUs becomes central. We will address the question of how to build an architecture that can maximize the utilization rate of QPUs in hybrid algorithms, while maintaining the quantum advantage in terms of carbon footprint and computation time.
