Panasas was founded in 1999, following research by Carnegie Melon University into the future file-system requirements of four flagship US Government research facilities.
Since then, Panasas has worked with many academic and government organizations, software vendors and commercial companies, to help them understand how to maximize their applications in order to take advantage of our high-performance storage file-system.

Panasas is also working with Teratec to provide engineering knowledge to its members - with the goal of helping them to maximize their in-house, or commercial, applications.

Panasas also provides systems for development/testing and ultimately contributes to the Teratec members’ environments so that they can execute the most-demanding applications, and provide better simulations results, faster than ever before.
