Chaired by Stéphane Perez, Cybersecurity Project Officer, CEA
Time cybersecurity challenges
By Sébastien Téot, Directeur, SCPTime Abstract: Digitization is a technological and IT challenge that breaks down barriers and accelerates exchanges: distance, information, collaboration, time ... In Digital applications, the place of Time is often small but central: messaging, commerce, payment, data analysis… In the age of regulatory changes, electronic signatures, industry 4.0, Internet of Things, Big data, and with the importance of cybersecurity… Time is becoming fundamental.
By stepping back, we realize that Time is at the heart of the security and data exploitation for a company. This amazing acceleration that we are experiencing in terms of digitization of the economy and the constant search for automation gives Time a prominent place.
The new challenges of data traceability are now giving rise to real sovereignty issues regarding the use of a reliable legal reference Time. We thus see the emergence of previously unsuspected cybersecurity flaws, linked to the high vulnerability of the Times sources that are used, foremost among them GNSS satellite systems (GPS, Galileo, Glonass, Beidou, etc.), on which we have become totally dependent, and which are the cause of many systemic issues.
The purpose of this conference is to rise audience’s awareness of these new issues, which may have sometimes catastrophic consequences, but which are too often ignored because of their positioning halfway between infrastructure and the world of software scopes.
