A pair of glasses is a medical device individualized to each wearer. Despite its apparent simplicity, the design of an ophthalmic lens requires a combination of mathematics, optics, vision sciences and scientific computation. How to determine, in a totally unsupervised way, the optimum and unique solution for hundreds of millions of individuals? In this presentation, we will review the challenges of visual correction: designing new ophthalmic lenses and modeling their performances.
