HPC, a great European ambition
Mariya GABRIEL, European Commissioner to the Digital Economy and Society
Mariya Gabriel has been European Commissioner to the Digital Economy and Society since 2017. Her responsibilities are numerous and very important as well for the Digital Europe.
Among these, we can mention:
-
Contribute to the implementation of the Digital Single Market;
-
Develop and ensure that telecommunications in Europe is a secure trusted system, so that citizens and businesses can fully benefit from the Digital Economy;
-
Ensure that the European Union can be a catalyst for public and private investment in high quality digital network infrastructure;
-
Support the development of the creative industries and a thriving European media and content industry;
-
Contribute to activities that turn digital research into "success stories" of Europe of innovation.
The EuroHPC project that she launched last autumn is the crystallization of her mission. It has a very strong European ambition to position Europe at the top of High Performance Computing in the world, in terms of equipment as well as integrated supply chain.
During her speech, European Commissioner Mariya Gabriel will express her synthetic vision of European digital policy, in particular in the field of HPC. She will share with us this great European ambition in her role as flag bearer.
