Tire innovation for sustainable mobility

Abstract : Important societal, environmental and technological transformations in transportation are shaping and will be shaped by tire innovation.

Increasing demand for road transportation and growing urbanization will accelerate the need for efficient mass transportation equipped with safe, long lasting, quiet and energy efficient tires. Electronic devices embedded in tires will facilitate the customers information and the management of these large fleets of vehicles with big datas management. Powertrain evolutions will be accompanied by changes in fundamental tire dimensioning criteria.

Finally the global increase in mobility will require greater attention paid to the efficiency of materials use, their sustainable sourcing and to recycling solutions with more value.

Tire innovation cycles will continue to accelerate, fueled by advances in materials physics and modeling ultimately providing better quality of transportation through safer, cleaner and more connected and efficient as well as more enjoyable road mobility.
