Wednesday, june 16, 09h00 - 18h00 This workshop will address systems engineering and will be introduced by a joint presentation of Ter@tec and SYSTEMATIC Competitive Cluster (Systems Design and Development Tools Work Group) research & development strategies concerning this key discipline, from early design phases to maintenance and decommissioning operations. This introducing talk will include the presentation of the new Ter@tec Lab dedicated to Advanced Systems Computer-Aided Engineering. In many engineering applications, high-fidelity time-dependent numerical simulations are so computationally intensive that they either cannot be performed as often as needed in design phases, or are more often performed in special circumstances than routinely. For this reason, the envisioned impact of simulation and HPC on time-critical operations such as design, design optimization, and active control, to name only a few, has yet to be materialized. That will be one of the major missions of this new lab. Another one in the follow-up of the Systematic CSDL (Complex Systems design Lab) research project will be to equip systems early pre-design phases with appropriated industrialized numerical tools for efficient and effective multi-disciplinary optimization and to use them for accelerated pre-design of strategic innovative systems from various industries like aeronautics, automotive, defence, energy, etc … A global overview of the systems engineering discipline (technological bottlenecks, great challenges for competitiveness, HPC needs, …) will be addressed by the President of the French Association for Systems Engineering. The following topics of this strategic discipline will also be addressed during this workshop: ISV Dassault-Systems vision: Converging Product life Cycle Management and System Engineering with V6 Infrastructure - EADS Innovation Works vision - Systems Multidisciplinary Optimisation: state-of-the-art and academic research topics - Systems Optimisation and Automotive Applications – Systems Optimization and Aeronautical Applications - Civil Engineering Systems Applications and Challenges – Models - driven Engineering : state-of-the-art and future trends.
