What strategy should Europe adopt in the face of generative AI?

Faced with the development of generative AI, Europe needs to adopt a strategy that enables the innovation and development of this technology while ensuring the protection of individual rights and ethical values. To this end, Europe must promote clear ethical standards and rules for the development and use of generative AI.

Europe must continue to invest in cutting-edge technologies, including HPC, to maintain its position as a world leader in technological innovation. It should also financially support research and development projects in this field to stimulate the growth of the generative AI industry in Europe.

Europe must ensure that the data used to train generative AI models is collected in an ethical and legal manner. The relevant jurisdictions must be clearly identified and respected.

With regard to the uses of generative AI, ethical considerations must be at the forefront of all decisions. Industrial/operational, scientific and social uses must be closely monitored to ensure that they meet ethical standards and do not infringe on individual rights.
